Getting bangs is a commitment, as is chopping your hair off or dyeing it a new color. But if you want to change up your look without doing anything too drastic, layers are the way to go. Want to add (or remove) volume? Layers. Wish your hair had more movement? Layers. Tired of your hair lying flat against your head and wearing you (as opposed to you wearing it)? You guessed it: layers.

Unless you only get one-length cuts, chances are you’ve probably had layers before. Most haircuts feature them — even if they’re super long and blended — and hairstylists will often incorporate them into a hairstyle naturally when they’re giving you a trim or adding shape to your new look. Recent hair trends like the shag and bixie rely heavily on layers to give the cuts their signature look, and while layers are pretty universally flattering, there is a science to finding the best layers for you. It has to do with your face shape.

“Layers have exceptional power to change the silhouette of the haircut and can therefore be extremely versatile when creating custom shapes,” Tom Smith, celebrity hairstylist, tells PS. “Layering as a technique is a fundamental element of hair cutting and can be adjusted to create limitless styles.”

If you have a hair appointment coming up on the calendar, consider the following tips from a hairstylist to help you find the right layered haircut for your face shape.

The Pouf Hairstyle Is Back and Better Than Ever /the-pouf-hairstyle-is-back-and-better-than-ever/ /the-pouf-hairstyle-is-back-and-better-than-ever/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 20:35:40 +0000 https://easterngifts8.com/the-pouf-hairstyle-is-back-and-better-than-ever/

If you went to school any time in the 2000s, you likely remember seeing hallways littered with UGG boots, PINK sweatshirts (with no less than two tank tops underneath), and the pouf hairstyle. Now, we may have mastered a new way of layering, but UGGS are most definitely back, and in a twist of events that no one saw coming, so is that iconic (sometimes cringy) pouf.

Don’t just take our word for it — look at Jennifer Lopez, Meredith Duxbury, and Bella Hadid. Paris Fashion Week last year quickly became the unofficial-official birthplace of the Bring Back the Pouf campaign, with Victoria’s Secret model Nadine Leopold and Nicola Peltz Beckham pairing their high fashion looks with . . . the bump. Since then, the divisive hairstyle’s momentum hasn’t slowed down. And we have to admit, most of these looks are not the old-school, front-and-center puff we debuted in grade schools of the early aughts. It’s more modern, updated, and, dare we say, kind of chic.

Ahead, we spoke to a stylist to get expert tips for bringing the hairstyle trend into the year 2024.

The Modern Pouf Hairstyle

So the pouf is back. But you don’t want to look like you’re cosplaying as your younger self from 15 years ago, which is why there are ways to modernize it. “We are seeing the pouf return in a more relaxed, chicer way,” celebrity hairstylist Sophie Sugarman tells PS. If you remember, the original pouf was quite the statement with a lot of height, but that’s no longer the case. “There is no need to go huge,” she says. “[This] version of the pouf is more subtle.”

That’s the way many of beauty’s biggest It girls are wearing it. Keeping it smoother and using a larger section of hair almost creates the illusion of a half-up, half-down look. It works on all hair types to add volume and intrigue, and is “the perfect opportunity to add an accessory like a cute bow or clip,” Sugarman says.

How to Do the Modern Pouf Hairstyle

This hairstyle works on all haircuts, hair types, and lengths. To start, style your hair as you normally would. You can curl it, give yourself a blowout, airdry, or with your natural curls or coils. Then you’re ready to form your pouf. “Section off the face-framing pieces and pin [them] back at the crown of the head using the Unite Le:Play Hairspray ($36) to tame flyaways and add flexible hold with a satin finish,” says Sugarman. “It is a workable hairspray that’s strong enough to hold styles in place, yet flexible enough to brush out and refinish into other hairstyles.”

You can use bobby pins, a fancy hair clip, or a bow to secure your bump in place at the back of your head. Sugarman recommends ending with a spritz of shine spray. We like the Amika Top Gloss Hair Shine Spray ($29).

Don’t worry: you can leave the lace tank top at home.

Megan Fox’s Tattoos and Their Meanings /megan-foxs-tattoos-and-their-meanings/ /megan-foxs-tattoos-and-their-meanings/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 18:19:40 +0000 https://easterngifts8.com/megan-foxs-tattoos-and-their-meanings/

Megan Fox’s tattoo collection has been in the works since she was 18 years old, but over the last few years, she’s really given it a major update. In general, Fox has undergone quite a metamorphosis recently. After taking a break from the spotlight, she’s back and making a big, big splash — from her engagement to Machine Gun Kelly back in January 2022 (and their many subsequent shocking red carpet moments) to countless major beauty transformations.

It’s no secret that Fox is a big fan of body art. Her current collection includes over 15 known pieces spanning her arms, back, ribs, and neck. This total includes one matching tattoo with MGK and another couple tattoo for ex-husband Brian Austin Green, which she recently covered. She has spoken openly about going through the process of removing a few of her older designs. This includes her first-ever — and arguably most iconic — design: Marilyn Monroe’s portrait on her forearm.

Fox’s ink is primarily done in one cohesive traditional tattoo style using all-black ink, but she does have a couple of small colorful designs. She has a few quote tattoos in gothic lettering, as well as an original poem etched on her side in a similar fashion. The actor also has a design of the phrase “the darkest fairytale” scribbled on her inner forearm, which was done by Kelly himself; he has a matching design on his hip. And as if that wasn’t enough, Fox’s most recent design is a full sleeve, which she debuted at the 2024 Grammys. Before that, she had a tattoo session in July 2023 that yielded 19 new finger tattoos, proving she’s not finished building her portfolio.

Each design has a special meaning behind it, so to learn all about Megan Fox’s tattoos, keep reading.
